The sad, lurid saga of Amanda Bynes continues
unabated.
The actress was placed on an involuntary
psychiatric hold — also known as 5150 — in
Los Angeles on Monday after setting a fire in a
driveway, according to TMZ.com . She can be
held only for 72 hours.
According to Captain Don Aguilar of the
Ventura County Sheriff's Office, "Amanda
Bynes was involved in a disturbance in a
residential neighborhood last night in
Thousand Oaks in the 200-block of Avenida De
Los Arboles. Deputies investigated the incident
and determined that she met the criteria of
5150 W&I (California Welfare & Institutions
Code). She was detained and taken for a
mental health evaluation."
Back in January 2008, Britney Spears also was
placed on lockdown for 72 hours after
refusing to hand her younger son Jayden over
to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Earlier this spring, Bynes was charged with
reckless endangerment and attempted
tampering with physical evidence after
allegedly throwing a marijuana bong from the
window of her 36th-floor Manhattan
apartment.
The actress is known on Twitter for her odd,
cryptic posts. The most recent one, dated July
19: "drake is gorgeous."
